Prayer

Prayer

The ministry of praying for people groups, missionaries, national believers, and unreached areas of the world is not simply an add-on but a vital part of international missions. By God’s grace, it is through the prayers of his people that the gospel goes forward and changes the lives of people and communities. If we neglect praying for the lost, and for believers that work among them, we neglect the full calling of global missions.

As we faithfully pray in these ways, we are actively engaged in the Great Commission. Prayer must be a foundational activity as we seek to proclaim the gospel, disciple believers, and plant new churches.

Here are a few ways you can be active in praying for God’s global mission
Pick up some prayer resources
Stop at the international missions prayer map in the foyer at Sojourn Midtown and pick up a few prayer cards of our missionaries. We also have various prayer tools on the Sending Ministry table to help empower you in praying for the nations. Lastly, we’ve found the book Operation World, and the accompanying app, to be one the most impactful prayer tools available.

Pray with your Community Group
Use these prayer tools, or compile your own prayer list, and ask others in your community group to pray with you. Many of our Midtown groups pray weekly or monthly for missionaries and teams serving around the world.

Weekly Prayer Gathering
The Midtown Prayer Collective gathers weekly to lift up specific requests for our church, our neighborhood Shelby Park, and for our Sent Ones and their ministry. This time of corporate prayer is an import aspect of our church planting and international ministry. For more information, email midtownprayercollective@sojournmidtown.com
