Hi! My name is Andy Cook. I am a non-staff pastor at Midtown. My main area of ministry is Care.

I have been at Sojourn since its creation. I have lived in Louisville since the age of 14, so this place is home to me more than anywhere else I have lived.

I work for the International Mission Board as a Microsoft 365 engineer. I am a graduate of Indiana University Southeast. My wife and I have been married since 2010. We have three kids. Jude, Riley, and Ansel.

I love photography, board games, music, and reading. I am a diehard Manchester United fan of 25 years. I am a Cleveland Browns Fan as well.

I love the journey that Sojourn has been on for the past 23 years, and most of all I love how our church looks more and more like heaven will every day, as we hold to our core value of having a diverse fellowship.

I'm a non-staff Pastor here at Midtown overseeing our missionaries in North Africa and the Middle East. My wife Jacinda and I have lived in Louisville and have been at Sojourn since 2012. Together with our four children, we live in Shelby Park, and most evenings you can find us around the playground.

I grew up in Lexington, KY, and did my undergrad degree at Cedarville University in Ohio. My wife and I worked in East Asia before returning to Louisville in 2012 to pursue an MBA from the University of Louisville. I work with an Impact Private Equity firm that provides housing for refugee and immigrant tenants. My family and I love exploring the outdoors, and in my free time, you can find me hiking or camping in and around the Louisville area.

Our family moved to Louisville in 2020, and we have joyfully been a part of the Sojourn Midtown family ever since then. My wife, Tasha, and I have five children.

I have worked through a variety of programs over the years (BA, MDiv, MBA, PhD) and now serve as a professor at Southern Seminary in the Department of Leadership and Discipleship. I have the joy of working with students in their master’s and doctoral programs as they prepare for leading and serving in churches, schools, and organizations. Prior to Southern, I worked and taught at Bethel Seminary in Minnesota for twenty years. Over the years I have also served as a pastor, worship leader, and homeless shelter chaplain.

I have written two books, Leadership in Christian Perspective and Healthy Leadership for Thriving Organizations. I love helping Christian leaders approach their stewardship of churches and organizations to the glory of God and the flourishing of people. It’s a joy to support the leaders of Sojourn Midtown and to serve as a non-staff pastor in the discipleship ministries of the church.

I have 14 years of experience as a pastor of mercy ministry at Sojourn. I am also the Founder and President of Seed to Oaks, a Kentucky nonprofit that teaches and equips churches to discover and meet the practical needs within their own neighborhoods.

Since 2006, I’ve been developing church-led ministries that serve people living in poverty, including free medical clinics, job training and placements, summer education and afterschool tutoring, community events, and benevolence ministries.

My professional experience includes four years in mergers and acquisitions and 10 years in small business ownership. I have a master’s degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in business from Georgia State University. I am a Leadership Louisville class of 2020 alumni and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 2018.

Our family moved to Louisville in 2007 when I became a professor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After serving for several years at Sojourn Church East, we returned to Sojourn Church Midtown in 2016. 

I earned my PhD at Southern Seminary after completing a master’s degree at Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City and a bachelor of arts at Manhattan Christian College. Along the way, I’ve written or contributed to a couple dozen books, including How We Got the Bible (Rose Publishing) and In Church as It Is in Heaven: Cultivating Multiethnic Kingdom Culture with Pastor Jamaal (InterVarsity Press).

My wife and I met in the summer of 1992 when we were both working at a children’s camp; we said our vows in June 1994 in record-high heat in a church building with a broken air conditioner. Since then, we’ve lived in three states and adopted four children. We enjoy board games, baseball games, traveling to sunny locations, trying new restaurants, and walking Riverfront Park and the Big Four Bridge.

I have been at Sojourn Midtown since 2022 and I am on staff as the Pastor of Spiritual Formation & Care. I have a lovely wife, Sarah and two boys, Whitt and Callan.

My hope and prayer for Sojourn Midtown is to be a people who grow more and more in our love for Jesus, are conformed into his likeness, and walk together as we pursue his kingdom. The two ministry areas that I help cultivate that vision are our Community Groups and Care ministries.

I'm passionate about these two ministries because they're a front row seat to seeing God at work in our people’s lives. In addition, community groups and care have deeply impacted and formed me in my walk with Christ.

My name is Austin, and I am the Pastor of Worship at Sojourn Midtown, where I oversee the various musical and technical needs of our worship gatherings and events.

I’m originally from the small town of Columbus, Mississippi where I grew up going to church, playing sports, and learning to be a musician and worship leader. 

When I graduated high school, I joined a core church plant team, where I served as the worship leader and began studying music production at The University of Southern Mississippi. 

During this time, I started dating Shiloh. After a few years, we both graduated college, got married, and started pursuing further education. 

We moved to Louisville in 2018 for me to attend SBTS and for Shiloh to attend Spaulding. We quickly fell in love with the city and with Sojourn Midtown and are happy to now call this our home.

Over the years our family has grown, too! We have three wonderful kids, Ward, Olive, and Murphy, who bring us much joy. 

I love hanging with the family, going to local parks, sneaking in a round of golf if I can ever find time, and exploring the great food scene in Louisville.

I am the Executive Director of Harbor Network, a network of churches across the United States providing safety and support to pastors and church leaders as they launch, lead, and multiply thriving churches. 

I’m originally from Fayetteville, GA, where I grew up with a twin brother and three sisters. I went to college at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA where I majored in classical percussion performance. After graduating, I attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, where I received a Master of Divinity in 2013. 

I’ve been married to Anna since 2011. We have two amazing daughters, Harper and Natalie. 

We’ve been members here since 2009, and I became a pastor in 2018. My pastoral responsibilities at Sojourn Midtown include serving on the governing elder body, a subset of the full council of elders that provides oversight to pastor Jamaal, high-level financial decision-making, and collaborates with Jamaal and the staff to refine the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of the church. 

I love to hike, run, and swim. I enjoy college football (go Georgia Bulldogs!) and baseball (go Braves!). I love to read. I read a lot of fiction, particularly fantasy novels. I also enjoy working outside in my yard and small garden. 

I’m grateful to be part of a church that has deep convictions, genuine love for people and our community, and seeks to reflect heaven in our pursuit of being a gospel-centered, multi-ethnic church.

I was born in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, where I lived before moving to the US to pursue college education and college athletics. I graduated from the University of Louisville where I played for the men’s soccer team and obtained two degrees, a bachelors and an MBA. 

I love playing fútbol (soccer) on the weekends and watching the Mexican national team play in international competitions. Also, I enjoy listening to respectful debates on a wide variety of topics such as philosophy, ethics, religion, politics, and science. 

As a non-staff elder, I serve as a director of Sojourn Latino ministry and work as an international air network planner for UPS. I am married to my wife Rebecca, and we have a baby girl.

Something I love about Sojourn’s church body is the safe space it creates to acknowledge our sin and sorrow, which compels us to bring it to the throne of grace without fear or shame.

My name is Josh, and I’m the Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Midtown. I’m married to the lovely Amanda Mae, and we have three kids: Caroline, Wells, and Camden. 

I met Amanda at Virginia Tech, where I received a B.S. in Biology. Amanda and I got married in 2012 and moved from to Louisville to pursue an M.Div. After becoming Midtown members in 2012, I came on staff in 2014.

Our family loves all things Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Virginia Tech athletics. Personally, I enjoy riding my bike, getting into nature for some fly fishing, and perfecting the art of smoked meat. My favorite fiction series are Harry Potter, the Wingerfeather Saga, Red Rising, and Lord of the Rings. 

I received a Ph.D. in leadership from SBTS, where I researched how multiethnic churches develop leaders.

I’m the Executive Director at Upstream Sending. Before that, I served as a staff pastor at Midtown, leading global missions and teaching for several years. During that time we sent numerous members out as mid- and long-term missionaries, including 6 church-based teams.

My wife Sarah and I were also cross-cultural missionaries in Kathmandu, Nepal, discipling young leaders and working with an unreached people group.

I got my doctorate of missiology (DMiss) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and am the author of You Are Sent: Finding Your Place in God’s Global Mission and Multisite Missions Leadership.

Hi, I’m Jason. I’m the Pastor of Groups at Midtown. I grew up in Deerfield Beach, FL, and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida. I earned an M.Div from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am married to Christina, and we have one son, Lennox.

At Midtown, my primary focus is overseeing community groups. During the week, I also spend time shepherding the CAM staff and volunteers, as well as discipling and offering care to Midtown members. 

Outside of my role at Sojourn, I love watching movies with my family, writing and performing poetry, creating art, and working on projects around my home.

You can catch me following a Sunday service at Midtown. More than likely, Christina, Lennox, and I are among the last to leave. Reach out and say hi!

I became a member of Sojourn in the fall of 2004, after moving from Ohio to pursue a masters at SBTS. I married my wife, Ashley, in 2007, and we have 3 children—Asher, Rowan, and Coraline. In 2014, our family was sent to France as part of a team from Midtown to church plant. We returned in the fall of 2021, so that I could take my current role. 

While we miss so much about our lives in France—the church plant we helped start, the bread and pastries, and city life, we are so thankful to be back in Louisville serving alongside you. It has been a deep joy to return to Midtown as a Pastor and encourage our church to send well, so that we can see God’s kingdom continue to advance.

I love watching the NBA and playing basketball. Also, I am growing to appreciate smoking meat. Our family loves to hike and experience new cultures together.
