Sojourn Sending

Sojourn Sending is our local and global outreach ministry. Our goal is to develop healthy and qualified members, send them to engage people with the gospel, and to see new disciples and churches multiplied. Throughout the year we host events to engage and renew our neighborhood. And we seek to reach the nations by regularly sending short and long term teams across the world, specifically to our partners in Western Europe.

There are a number of ways to get involved in missions at Sojourn East. If you would like to meet with one of our missions leaders, please email Steve Neher

What do we think about missions?

Missions Convictions

Our God loves the world and is actively calling a people to himself from every nation, tribe, and tongue.

Isaiah 45:22 and 49:1-6
John 3:16 and 12:32
Revelation 5:9 and 7:9-10

Our God commands the participation of his Church in this work, sending us out to proclaim the gospel boldly and wisely, and to make disciples among all peoples.

Matthew 28:18-20
John 20:21
Acts 1:8
Romans 10:13-17
1 Peter 2:9

The work of making disciples is not accomplished by our own strength or wisdom, but by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit through earnest prayer dependence and obedience.

Luke 10:2
John 15:5
Acts 1:8, 13:2-4, and 16:6-10
1 Corinthians 2
Ephesians 6:18-20

Relying on the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the gospel and disciple others in the truth of sound doctrine and practice, appropriately contextualized for each culture.

John 16:13
Acts 17:16-34
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
Ephesians 4:11-16
2 Timothy 2:1-2
Titus 1:5 - 2:1

As a sending church we are proactive in identifying, assessing, developing, and affirming qualified men and women who sense a calling to proclaim the gospel and make disciples among the nations. We desire to help equip our sent ones whether they are starting or running businesses, going as marketplace workers or serving as vocational missionaries.

Acts 13:1-3 and 16:1-5
1 Timothy 3:1-13
Acts 11:19-26 and 2:42

Acknowledging the variety of gifts, experience, expertise, and professional qualifications among those in our church who are called to go, we seek to mobilize the entire body, valuing both traditional and non-traditional sending pathways utilizing short, mid-term and long-term engagement.

Acts 18:1-4
Luke 10:1 -12
Luke 5:1-11

Aware that we are a small part of a much larger sending/missions community, we partner with like-minded churches, national church leaders, intentional companies doing business abroad, and sending agencies with a high value for  the local church in order to benefit from their experience and increase our effectiveness.

Philippians 1:3-6
Acts 13-15

Understanding the unique challenges faced by our sent ones, we commit to holistic care, continuous encouragement and practical support through every stage of their journey, from pre-field mobilization and development to post-service re-entry.

3 John 5-8
Philippians 2:19-30 and 4:10-20

We believe that mission happens best in the context of team, and as a result we send our members to existing field teams or to new places where others will serve alongside, whether they are from Sojourn or another partnering organization.

Luke 10
Acts 13
