The sacrifice of Christ paved the way for God to adopt us as His sons and daughters. We are His family, and we continuously learn how to walk in His ways. What we do flows out of who we are. Within this primary identity as sons and daughters of God, we inhabit these five identities:
Worshipers — We are worshipers of God who have responded to His call to worship by living for His glory. Everything we do is an act of worship, pleasing to God because of Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. Our primary expression of this as a church is Sojourn Gathered, our Sunday worship services. (Romans 12:1,;John 4:23-24; Hebrews 10:1)
Family — We are children of God who live and care for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Our primary expression of this as a church is our Group Life. (Genesis 12:1-3; John 1:12-13; Romans 12:10-16)
Servants — We are servants of God who serve others with our lives because Christ Himself came to serve and to give His life for us. Our primary expression of this as a church is the pathways to service in our various ministries, and the many projects coordinated through Seed, our Louisville renewal ministry (Matthew 20:25-28; 25:31-46; John 13:1-17; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Peter 2:16)
Missionaries — We are missionaries of God, sent by God to restore all things to Himself, through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our primary expression of this as a church is our Church Planting Center, the proactive nature of our Group Life, and Seed – our renewal initiative (John 1:14; 20:21; Colossians 1:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
Learners — We are disciples of Christ who proactively seek our own development and the development of others. Our primary expression of this as a church is our classes, our study time as part of Group Life, and our corporate worship time – Sojourn Gathered. (Luke 2:52; Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-13; 2 Timothy 2:2)
