Responsibilities:

I oversee Worship Arts and the 930 Art Center. This means working with songwriters and musicians preparing for Sundays, recording our worship CD’s, and working with the ministry leaders who oversee the Visual Arts ministry and the 930 Art Center. As a staff pastor, I also work to keep the mission moving forward and the vision clear amongst the team.

Family:

Sarah and I got married when we were 19. We just had our first baby, Dorothy Jean, in August 2007 and a second daughter, Maggie, in April 2009. We also have a dog named Ginger.

Hometown:

I’ve lived in the Louisville area for nearly 20 years. It’s as close to a hometown as I can get.

Education & Experience:

My education primarily came from working in the church — mentored by a number of other pastors and leaders. I was a part of the core when Sojourn first planted in 2000, and I came on staff about a year and a half later. I’ve served in a wide variety of roles in the church as it’s grown.

Vision for your position:

I hope that Sojourn can be part of a movement of churches that empowers artists to use their gifts in service to the church and for the glory of God. I hope that church music can be reclaimed from the commercial world it’s in by the local church.

What brought you to Sojourn?

When Sojourn started, we were hungry to see what God had for us next.

Pictured here: people watch this past Sunday’s Sojourn Gathered service on a video screen in “overflow” (the Listening Room) at our Midtown campus.  More and more people are gathering in here, during more and more services, because seating in the main auditorium is filling up.
