Foundations is a Learner Group designed for both men and women at Sojourn. We offer it as a foundation to your development. Foundations exposes participants to sound doctrine and provides them with a forum for theological discussion led by a Sojourn ministry leader. Foundations groups will last approximately 40 weeks and can serve as participation in “Group Life” at Sojourn. Those participating in Foundations will engage in two to three hours of study and training per week.
Foundations Goals and Purpose:
1. To expose men and women to biblical answers to common theological questions.
2. To learn theology and apply it to life by encouraging and illustrating how theological truth applies.
3. To experience fellowship in small groups and to model how leaders draw others into good, Gospel-centered discussion.
4. To promote spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, and Scripture memory.
5. To raise up new leaders and deacons by providing sound theological training, and by calling Foundations participants into functional leadership in Sojourn ministries.
If you’re a Sojourn member (or in process) and have a desire to participate in Foundations, please email Connect Director Mike Schuetz.
Format and Preparation for Foundations Groups:
Read through the assigned chapters and think through discussion questions. Each week will cover 1-3 chapters.
Memorize Scripture and Recite.
Participants will work through Wayne Grudem’s Bible Doctrine and other key articles.
Foundations groups will meet weekday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
Men’s group leaders: Lachlan Coffey.
Ladies leaders: Rebecca Dennison
It is our hope that these Foundations Groups multiply as other leaders and teachers emerge.
