Family:

Mandy and I have been married since 2001. We have three kids (Isaiah, Miles, and London), and are in the process of adopting our fourth from Ethiopia.

Hometown:

I was born and spent my early childhood in Ethiopia as a missionary kid. We then moved to Gainesville, FL which I consider my hometown.

Education & Experience:

I have my BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and I am pursuing my Masters in Biblical Counseling from Southern Seminary. Mandy and I have been involved in marital, pre-marital and individual counseling at Sojourn for the past 3 years as well as leading and coaching Community Groups.

Vision for your position:

To see the gospel spread through transformed hearts and minds. To see marriages strengthened as men and women grow in their God-given roles. To see a spirit of adoption flourish at Sojourn as we acknowledge our adoption as sons through Christ.

What brought you to Sojourn?

My brother, Les, was one of the founding pastors of Sojourn and we visited many times throughout those early years. Sojourn was one of the main reasons we moved to Louisville to begin with.

Favorite movie/ TV show:

  • Movies: any Kung-Fu or Wes Anderson.
  • TV: Florida Gator Football

Favorite music/ band:

Bill Mallonee / Vigilantes of Love, Plankeye, Yo-Yo Ma and BB King (the king of the blues).

Favorite book other than the Bible:

John Adams by David McCullough, CS Lewis' Space Trilogy, and Renewal as a Way of Life by Richard Lovelace.

Hobbies/interests:

I love wood working, bass playing, reading, and Lego and reading with my kids.
