Daniel Ems

Responsibilities:
I am an Elder, a Community Group Coach; my wife and I occasionally do Pre-Marriage Counseling, and we are training to do Marriage/Individual Counseling. As an elder, I participate in decisions about the vision and direction of Sojourn and interview people who want to become church members.
Family:
I have been married to my lovely wife Amy since 1999. We have a five-year-old daughter, Lauren, and a two-year-old son, Silas. In 2010, we adopted two boys from Ethiopia, Natnial and Minilik.
Hometown:
I was born and raised in Galena, Indiana, a.k.a. Floyds Knobs, a.k.a. the Sunny Side of Louisville.
Education & Experience:
I have a BA from Indiana University Bloomington with a double major in Biology and Environmental Studies and a minor in Geography. Naturally, this has nothing to do with my job as a Market Analyst for Kindred Healthcare. My experience in ministry has been entirely through Sojourn. My wife and I led a community group for four and half years, and I’ve been an elder for about two years.
Vision for your position:
My primary vision is to preach the gospel to hurting people at Sojourn through marriage and individual counseling. In addition, I would like to use what I’m learning about counseling to help Community Group leaders become more effective at caring for the church.
